Our journey began in 2008 with a clear mission: to build a society where no one is left behind, regardless of their abilities, background, or circumstances.
We firmly believe that education and healthcare are powerful tools that can unlock human potential, bridge social and economic gaps, and lay the foundation for a more equitable and prosperous future. Through our dedicated efforts, we strive to empower individuals, foster inclusivity, and create lasting positive change in the communities we serve.
Our Founders:
Abhilashakids, is a non-profit organization founded by Ms. Himabindu (Bindu) and Dr. Mahanandeeshwar (Nandu) Gattu. The organization was born from the couple’s personal journey as parents of Abhinand Gattu, their son who was born with multiple disabilities. Driven by their personal experiences, Bindu and Nandu have dedicated their lives to improving the lives of children with special needs.
Dr. Nandu Gattu is a physician and holds a Ph.D. in Neuropharmacology from the Medical College of Georgia, USA.
Ms. Himabindu (Bindu) Gattu earned her Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from the Medical College of Georgia and further pursued a M.Sc. in Applied Psychology and a B.Ed. in Special Education in India.
After living and working in the USA for over 18 years, the couple decided to return to India to devote their lives to the fields of education, special education, and healthcare, aiming to create meaningful change in society.
Abhilashakids is a reflection of their unwavering commitment to providing accessible and high-quality education, special education, and healthcare services to children of all abilities. Inspired by their son, Abhinand, the organization is a testament to their belief that every child—whether abled or differently-abled—deserves the opportunity to live a life filled with love, purpose, and achievement.
Through Abhinand’s journey, Bindu and Nandu gained profound insights into the challenges and possibilities in the realm of disability and special education. Their vision for Abhilashakids is simple yet powerful: to ensure that every child has the same opportunities as any other member of the community, enabling them to dream big, reach their full potential, and live a life filled with dignity and joy.
